Charlie Merrett's patience pays off at Combe Monday 12 April...
I went to Combe and quite a few went XC. Wind was a little strong and NE to start but it lived up to the forecast and gradually dropped off and backed to NNW.Left the hill at 4pm and after the 2 I was with headed south, I pushed east and connected with a cloud street that took me to Petersfield. Headed onto the downs (there was a hangie that looked like he was soaring at Harting) but by then it was 6pm and I landed near Midhurst.(64km) Abi and a few others went south and managed about 40km before getting caught up in the airspace.I heard that Hugh Miller had a good flight from Leckhampton and was last seen near Combe going strong but don't know where he got to. Looked like a 100km+ day from the right site.Charlie
